How to block my mom from seeing new statuses?

So my mom always pesters me about my facebook. I watch what I say on facebook, but lets be real. My mom is an unedjucated women who fixes typos for a living and still lives in lingo from 70s. Is there a way I can keep my new statuses private from her without removing us from friends.
