What Are Some Basics To Living In England?

I live in America as of now and maybe someday when I have saved up enough money and have my future sorted out, I would consider moving to England. I've heard and read about how it's a more exciting place, a lot of interesting people. I need to know the basics of living there. Like how to convert an American amount of currency into British currency. And about the different areas in England (like regions).And if anyone knows the lingo they use. Like how they call an apartment a flat, or call a cigarette a fag. I'm pretty clueless as you can see and I think it would be easier to ask people who have actually lived there and know more about this than to search it up on google.
