I'm having trouble with my macbook running extremely slow...?

i have the same problem before. im using Snow Leopard. i have 320gb hard drive and i have 98gb space left. what i did was copy all the files to an external hard drive and reinstall the OS. after that, there was no problem at all. i dont think OS-X have disc defrag like Windows has.
